Katherine Kovaleff Obituary

Katherine Lucille Kovaleff
11/25/1952 ~ 06/24/2004
Kathy was called home by the Lord June 24th, 2004, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 33 years, Al Kovaleff, her three children, Chrissy Gates, Amy Kovaleff and Alex Kovaleff, son-in-law, Scott Gates, and grandson, Michael Gates, with another grandbaby due to arrive soon. Kathy also leaves behind her mother, Mary Larsen, and sisters Kris Timmel, Karen White, Beth Wolf and brothers John Larsen and Arnie Larsen.
As a homemaker she devoted her life to creating comfort, warmth and happiness for her family. She opened her heart to all she knew and always encouraged friends and strangers to follow the Lord.
Kathy's life started November 25th, 1952 in Seattle, WA. She made a permanent home in Marin County in 1964. She attended Terra Linda High School, while her high school sweetheart, Al, attended Drake. They married soon after graduation. Kathy will be missed by her many family members and friends. Truly a woman after God's heart, she touched the lives of those she knew and cherished her family. She will be in our hearts forever. We love you Kathy. You were a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend.
You are invited to attend a service in memory of Kathy, Tuesday, June 29th, at 1 p.m. at Novato Presbyterian Church with internment to follow at Mr. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to: UCSF, Vincenti Kidney Transplant Donors Fund, 44 Montgomery Street, Ste. 2200, San Francisco, CA 94104-4709.

Kathy mentored me and gave me inspiration to grow and expand my career opportunities during the short period we worked with each other in property management. Thank you Kathy for encouragement to fulfill and acquire my real estate license just a few years following our brief and greatly missed association.

We are so sorry to learn of Kathy's passing and want to send our deepest condolences to Al and the entire family. We have fond memories of Deborah and the gang building homecoming floats at your house. Deborah says that Kathy was one of the 'cooler' Mom's, and that is why every year the class would return to the Kovaleff's to build the float (and the Kovaleff's generously opened their home for it!) Just a few months ago we had the pleasure of seeing Kathy and Al at Rod Wood's going-away party. Please know that you are in our prayers.
