1927 - 2018

Lenore Daris Sept. 24, 1927 - Dec. 1, 2018 It is with great sadness our family and friends announce the passing of our dear cousin and friend Lenore. She lived most of the last 45 years of her life in Mill Valley. Lenore was preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Sydney Goldberg, her sister Judith and her beloved cousin Karen. Her close relatives, first cousin Roslyn and cousins Ellen, Rich and Duncan, mourn her passing as do her life-long friend Franklin a.k.a. Frank, and her devoted nephew and niece, Steve and Leslie. Lenore spent her last eight years at the Rafael Convalescent Hospital (now Marin Post Acute) in San Rafael. We greatly appreciate the loving care Lenore received there in her last years. As a youngster in New York City Lenore showed Impressive gifts in drawing and painting. She was accepted as a young teenager to Music and Art High School. This was an honor and an exceptional opportunity to hone her skills. Lenore worked in New York City as a commercial artist where she excelled, but she was drawn to fine arts where her heart was. She spent some years in Florida where she learned and taught yoga and was involved in the budding movement of mindfulness and meditation. In Florida she delighted in taking care of her young nephew and niece and was very much a mother to them. Lenore moved to Mill Valley in 1972 where she continued her artistic gifts working in bronze and clay and stone sculpture. In those years she produced a small body of exceptional work. Much of her work was done at the College of Marin sculpture lab. She was highly praised as an art critic at the lab and made many good friends there. At the college she was a regular in the yoga and weight training classes. Lenore was a fine friend, a good listener and a calm presence. As well as her family, her many friends will miss her. A few of her friends we would like to mention are Zoe, Moselle, Carol, Gail, Margaret, Marcia, Mary, Cynthia, Deborah, Jeanne. Michael, Misak, Sonya and Monica. We honor a long life well lived. We love you Lenore.
