Peter Goddard Obituary

Peter McDonell Goddard

Peter was born on February 8, 1951 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and raised in Belvedere, California, where he attended nearby Reed School. After graduating from Drew School in San Francisco,

Peter attended the California College of Arts and Crafts, where he earned a BFA, with Honors in Photography.

Peter was a skilled gardener and worked for many years for Sonoma County Parks. Peter loved animals, books and travel, and his

interest in Buddhism ultimately led him to the Sae Taw Win II Dhamma Center in Graton, where he resided the past two years, and where he passed peacefully on March 22.

Predeceased by his father, George Goddard of Mill

Valley, Peter is carried on in the hearts and minds of

his mother Janet McDonell Goddard, uncle and aunt Neil and Edna McDonell, stepmother Sheret Goddard Osborn and Cross family stepsiblings; siblings Christopher (and Karen), Constance, Jeffrey (and Elise), Toby

(and Kimberly), Calvin (and

Georgia), and nephews Brook, Scott, Will and Ziggy

Goddard. His family will hold a private memorial later this spring.

Pete was one of the most highly valued, dependable and devoted employees in the parks department I have ever work with. Due to his humble and unassuming nature, I believe his many talents were not widely recognized. He will be missed and not forgotten.

Pete was a great guy! He worked for me for several years at Doran Park and was really helpful with keeping the parks looking good. One thing that I had found out about him was that he was quite the world traveler and a real good photographer.

I learned of Pete's passing through the staff at Sonoma County Regional Parks. I worked with Pete for many years in the parks beginning in the 1980's. He was a dedicated and loyal employee, and will be missed by the many who knew him.
