Raymond Kropp Obituary

Raymond B. Kropp, M.D.
Passed away Sunday, January 23rd, 2005, at the age of 60, after a brief and courageous battle with liver cancer. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Tori, his three sons Matthew, Adam and Alexander, his first wife Margie Guggenhime, his sisters Judy McDonald and Carol Stuchlik of Colorado, his daughters-in-law Karen and Michelle, and his grandson Emerson.
Ray grew up in River Forest, Illinois. He attended Northwestern University and UC Berkeley, and then completed medical school and residencies in Surgery and Anesthesia at UCSF in 1970. He then practiced anesthesia for 15 years at California Pacific Medical Center. In 1989, he started the San Francisco Surgery Center, where he served as Medical Director and Chief of Anesthesia.
Computer technology was Ray's personal passion and sharing this passion with Matt and Adam was a highlight of his life. Together they helped Tori develop a website for her company, Stork Site, in 1996. After completing a certificate program in Data Mining and Data Warehousing in 2000, he and his sons again had the opportunity to work together when they formed a consulting company, Kropp Medical Data Systems.
Ray was an avid athlete. He introduced Matt and Adam to scuba diving, skiing and windsurfing, met Tori while playing soccer, and had Xander on skis before he could walk. He loved spending his summers sailing and playing tennis at "Kropp's Retreat" on Lake Michigan.
Ray's family was his first priority, yet he taught all of us how to live with love, laughter and integrity.
Thank you Dad, thank you Dr. Kropp, thank you Ray and thank you Bucky.
Please join his family in celebrating his exceptional life on Wednesday, January 26th at 5:00 p.m., Sausalito Presbyterian Church, 112 Bulkley Avenue, Sausalito.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alexander Petrick Kropp Educational Fund at Bank of America, 50 Bon Air Center, Greenbrae, CA 94939, or the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1600 Divisadero Street, San Francisco, CA 94115.
