RICHARD LAUCHENAUER Obituary

Richard Lauchenauer Passed away peacefully on April 18, 2010 with his beloved wife Gaye by his side. He fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer for 20 months. In his last days, he was surrounded by loving family and friends. Rich was born at Ross Hospital on October 30, 1944. He graduated from San Rafael High School in 1964. He worked with his father Emil "Mick" Lauchenauer at the family business, Locke Brothers Body and Fender. After Mick's retirement from the business, Rich ran Locke Brothers until his own retirement. Growing up in Santa Venetia, Rich spent many happy summer days playing Little League baseball at Castro Field. His love of the game took him on to coach for the Dixie-Terra Linda Little League, coaching his sons Greg and Tom for many years. The Lauchenauer family was blessed to spend one last camping trip with Rich last July at Silver Lake In Lassen National Forest. This summer tradition was started by his parents Mick and Eleanor when Rich was just 3 years old. Rich taught every family member that came along on the many trips how to catch the best trout in the lake. Rich was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the California Waterfowl Association and Ducks Unlimited. He will be missed by his hunting and fishing buddies. Rich was predeceased by his son Matthew and by his parents Emil "Mickey" and Eleanor Lauchenauer. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Gaye; daughter Christine; sons Gregory (Liv) and Thomas (Kimberly); and grandchildren Rebecca, Matthew, Briana and Emma. The Celebration of Life Service is 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Mount Tamalpais Mortuary and Cemetery, 2500 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael. The family requests that any donations be made to Hospice by the Bay, 17 E. Sir Francis Drake Blvd, San Rafael, CA 94901. For information: Mt. Tamalpais Mortuary, (415) 459-2500.

As we mourn the loss of our friend and fellow fisherman we also need to celebrate his life as well.I will never forget the smile on his face the day I presented him with the custom fishing rod he ordered. He always offered a smile and a firm handshake. He loved to laugh and loved people. I know he is looking down on us from the heavens above and is content with the memories he left us.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
