Sal Trentino Age 60, passed away March 28, 2009 after a long battle with Cancer. He was born in Brooklyn but came to the Bay Area in 1970 to continue his love affair with electronics. He began fixing TVs and radios at the age of 12. In 1974, he joined Prune Music in Mill Valley and repaired amplifiers. He repaired amps for Carlos Santana, Mike Bloomfield, Jesse Colin Young and others. He became Neil Young's amp repairman on and off the road and was soon to be known as the only repairman to bring your tube amp to. After Prune Music closed, he worked for several years at KRON TV fixing everything and being their Audio Expert. After his KRON years, he purchased the Prune name, opened a shop in San Anselmo repairing old amps and designed a line of his own. You've seen them onstage with Pearl Jam. As much as he loved electronics, he loved his son more. He is survived by his son, Christopher Trentino; his former wife, Sharon Trentino; his sister, Carol Trentino, her husband Lewis Rinaman and their son Quinn. The family will hold a private service and there will also be a second event at a time to be named later– a time for Sal's personal and music friends to honor Sal and celebrate his life.
