Wyatt Brooks Weisel October 20, 1971 - December 11, 2017 Wyatt Brooks Weisel passed away peacefully at his home in Menlo Park on December 11th after a long and courageous battle with lupus. He was 46 years old. Born at Stanford Medical Center, Wyatt spent his early years in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Oregon before moving to Ross, California, where he attended the Ross School and the Branson School. He subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Following several years as an equity trader with Montgomery Securities and Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco, Wyatt obtained his MBA from Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business and shifted his career to real estate development in the South Bay. He began as an acquisitions specialist with Marcus & Millichap and later served as a partner at Keenan Land Company. He also managed development projects for a family business. Wyatt was an outdoor enthusiast, lifelong athlete, doting father, and loving friend. From Maui to Sun Valley, he enjoyed surfing, skiing, and fly fishing and was happiest when cruising the waves on his standup board, carving fresh powder, or soaking up the sun at Red Fish Lake. But Wyatt's true calling was fatherhood. Whether tossing around a football, coaching lacrosse moves, or watching the Warriors, he cherished spending time with his sons and passing along his passion for sports. Wyatt was particularly committed to cycling. He was a member of the Specialized Masters Racing Team and won a gold medal in the track team pursuit at the U.S. National Championships. He later served as the Chairman of the Northern California Cycling Foundation and founded and oversaw the Specialized juniors program, which trained and mentored promising young cyclists and captured 34 national titles. Carrying a broad smile and playful sense of humor, Wyatt had a big heart and was always willing to share it. He loved all the world had to offer, especially family, friendship, laughter, and music. He will be missed. Wyatt is survived by his sons Wilson and Tyler, his former wife Whitney Gates, his parents Thomas (Janet) and Caroline Batey (Ian), his siblings Brett (Ellyn), Heather Pedersen (Jason), Kipling, Olivia, Andrew, and Ashton, his stepsisters Fiona Batey and Bronwen Batey (Bruce), and his nieces and nephews Ben, Anna, Hailey, Alise, Brooke, and Dane. He was also blessed with a wonderful collection of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. His family would like to extend their warmest appreciation to all those who helped and provided comfort and companionship to Wyatt throughout his illness.
