Alberta Ethel Hughes

Alberta Ethel Hughes, 97, formerly of Prospect, died Wednesday December 18, 2024 at Embassy of Marion. She was born May 6, 1927 in Jackson County to the late William Stanley and Alla Pricilla (Gray) Keller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ruffes B. Hughes, they were married January 13, 1945 in Prospect and he died July 30, 1993. She was also predeceased by siblings, Esther Keller, Leora "Teddy" Roush, Loye Maude Scarborough, Lucille Crabtree, Marcella Mumy, Rosella Sims, Bill Keller, Max Keller and Melvin Keller. Alberta was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Prospect. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Family was the center of her life. She also cherished some very dear friendships throughout her life. Surviving is her son, Robert "Bob" Hughes of Key West, Florida and her granddaughter, Janice Hughes of Bend, Oregon. Services will be held Friday December 27, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect. Pastor David Gerfen will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home in Prospect. Burial will take place in the Shoup (Thompson Twp.) Cemetery at a later date.
