Alvin M. Combs

MARION: Alvin M. Combs, age 79, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 at his residence.

He was born May 4, 1936 in Wayland, KY, to the late Murt and Winfred (Walls) Combs. On April 28, 1962 he married Frances S. Ingram and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2013.

Alvin spent 23 years at Tecumseh Products, five years at Quaker Oats, then when those plants went out of business, he went back to school for his associates degree and finished out his working career and retiring from Willamette in Delaware, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during Korea and was a member of the American Legion Post #368 in Prospect, Ohio.

Alvin loved camping and fishing and loved a good joke. But, most of all he loved his family and especially his wife of 51 years.

Alvin leaves behind two daughters and three sons, Yvonne A. (Jerry) Seibert of Marion, Ohio, Beth S. Caudill (J.B. Blevins) of Prospect, Ohio, David A. (Sonia) Combs of Marion, Ohio, Mark A. Combs of Lancaster, Ohio, and Michael A. (Nicole) Combs of Gahanna, Ohio. Also ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren survive as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Smith.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday July 30, 2015 at 12:OO P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Grover Caudill. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery with Military Rites by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday July 29, 2015 from 5 to 8 P.M.
