Kenneth Cook Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" A. Cook

MARION: Kenneth "Kenny" A. Cook, age 82, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Marion General Hospital.

Kenny was born in Waldo on October 31, 1931, the son of the late Harold and Bernice (Bartlett) Cook. Kenny graduated from Cardington-Lincoln High School. He served in the National Guard and retired from the railroad after 40 years of service as a conductor.

On March 30, 1974, Kenny was united in marriage to Cora B. Brechbill in Marion. Together they shared 38 years of marriage until Cora preceded Kenny in death on October 15, 2012.

Kenny enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to go fishing and camping at Lake Erie with the Keirns clan. He also took pride in gardening, canning and tending to his Apple trees.

He especially loved family gatherings. He went to all the family's birthday parties that he could, he would tell you that he was going only for the cake. He also enjoyed telling stories, and rather than use the person's real name, he had a nickname for everyone that described who they most resembled.

Kenny was a proud member of the New Bloomington Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post #162 and a lifetime member of the Eagles.

Those he leaves to honor his memory include his children: Larry (Cindi) Cook, Linda (Steve) Keirns, Lois "Eddie" (Merle) Chesser, Robert "Bob" (Angie) Cook, Charlene (Troy) Harris and Rick (LaShell) Shope; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy O'Lear; and his best friend, Dick Sessler.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Cora B. Cook and sisters: Donna Bell Miley and Norma Chamberlain.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 11AM to 12Noon. Funeral services will be immediately follow at 12Noon with Pastor Ben Shaeffer officiating. Burial will be in the Waldo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Bloomington Methodist Church in Marion.

Our prayers are with all of you during this sad time. I will always remember him calling the house and his favorite line was "how dee". It was nice to see Uncle Kenny a few years ago, when he came to Michigan with his daughters. What a great time we had! Rest in Peace. Until we meet again.

Hi, this is Larry's wife Cindi. Larry and I were in Ohio three years ago, it was a joy to have met Cora and Kenny. We talked for hours as if they knew me forever. Very kind and loving couple. I even met the granddaughter that just had the baby so I imagine he is getting so big or so. I hope all of y'all and Larry can sit around and talk all about the fun and the good times you all had. I know Larry has told me stories of when his aunt and uncle took him in and how loved he felt. The fun he had with the cousins and playing ball and just doing things together as a new family. I'm really sorry when we were in Ohio that I didn't get to meet any of you guys but Larry has told me a lot about you all and how much everyone loved Cora and Kenneth. You all are in my prayers and for all to have traveling mercy. In the love of Jesus Christ, Cindi Cook

we stayed the whole afternoon and we talked like we have never
