Lillian Connolly Obituary

Lillian M. Connolly

MARION: Lillian M. Connolly, a lifelong resident of Marion County, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 19, 2013, at her home in the Kingston Residence following an extended illness. She was 95 years old.

On July 24, 1917, Lillian was born at home on Pleasant Hill Road in Marion County, the middle of five children of the late William "Bill" and Alice (Utz) Risch.

She graduated from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1935. Following high school, Lillian began working at the Marion County Farm Bureau, where she met her husband to be, Kenneth B. Connolly. They were married on April 15, 1939. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1972.

For many years, Lillian helped Ken own and operate the Marion Hatchery, with her main duties being in the office and caring for their books. After his passing, she went back to work specializing in customer service at Fairview Gardens and lastly at Hemmerly's Flower Shop, from where she retired.

She will be affectionately remembered by her two children, Patricia (Joe) Walp of Columbia, Tennessee, and Mark Connolly of Tamarac, Florida; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two siblings, Helen Little, and Delmar (Lucille) Risch, both of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Lillian was preceded in death by two siblings, Louise Pride and Esther Duffey.

Her family will greet friends from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will follow there at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Nancy Goulet officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion General Hospital Hospice, 278 Barks Rd. W., Marion, OH 43302.

Miss you mom.

Mark, You probably don't remember me but I was Wendell Guinther's first wife. Many years ago I remember meeting your mother when we double dated to go to your junior prom. Your mom was so gracious to me. Sometimes you can see a lot about a person in a brief greeting. Sorry to hear of your loss. Becky Monroe

Sharon and Craig Snyder

To the family of Lillian Connolly, It was with a heavy heart we read the obituary of your mother. She was a dear, long-time friend of Virginia Snyder, Craig's mother. It was a joy to visit with her a few years ago, while she was still in her home; we even called Craig's mother while we were there so they could chat a while. While your valued memories will give you comfort in the coming days, you have our sympathy.

Pat, I will be thinking of you and your family all weekend. I would be at the service today, but, our son Ryan is home with our older grandson, Calum for the weekend. He is married and has one younger son, Theo, and lives in Charlottesville, VA. I noticed your mother had experienced a long illness and I understand how difficult that is for family. I am providing my email address and would love to hear from you when you have an extra few minutes. I retired from school nursing in May so will have more availability to see and keep up with old friends. If you will be in Marion next week, let me know and I can come down after Monday if there is a convenient day/time for you. Please give my best to Mark and his family and hope to hear from you when you have a minute....best always, Penny Casey: [email protected]; Cell/text: 614-325-5559.
