Josie Brown Obituary

Josie Dorris (Moore) Brown, 86, Seymour Missouri was born in Rawlings,

Wyoming to Taylor and Josie (Dorris) Moore. Josie departed this life June

2, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Josie Moore; her

husband, Kenneth Brown; sons, Munroe and Austin Allen Brown; daughter

Betty Joe Brien; and her siblings, Rayman, Taylor, Sherman, Doug, Hosea

and Floyd Moore.

Josie is survived by daughter, Carol Brown; sons, Edward and Kenneth

David Brown; sister, Rose Boyce; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and

friends. Josie Brown was very crafty, she loved to crochet, making beautiful

tablecloths, afghans, and doilies which she shared with her family. She

loved to sew and making her children shirts and dresses. She made them

all alike, and often her children were confused as twins. Josie was a hard

worker through her life, always caring and loving people as she worked in

Independence, Iowa State Mental Hospital. She would help the patients,

sometimes teaching them how to put things together. When they moved

back to Missouri, she started working at Cox for 17 ½ years, where she was

a nurse's aide. She loved working with the patients, and was very good at

what she did. Josie had a heart of gold, was always kind and always had

wonderful patience no matter what she was doing. She was very easy going

with a very quiet and a gentle soul.

She loved flowers and would do some gardening. She loved to walk and

when she moved to Ava Nursing home about 4 years ago, you would find

her walking up and down the halls. She loved reading westerns, but you

would always find her with a book in hand no matter what it was. She loved

working the word find puzzles and loved all animals. She loved to travel

with Rose to go see their brother Rayman when he was alive, and would

attend graduations in Iowa when nieces and nephews graduated and there

were weddings to attend.

Josie lived a full life; she always had a smile to greet everyone. The nurses

all loved her in Ava as she was easy going, and was kind to everyone and

loved all that she met. She will be missed by her family, friends and all

those who knew her.
