Diane Klinke Obituary

Klinke , Diane E.

Diane Eileen (Volovsek) Klinke, age 66, of Marshfield, WI, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, on Saturday, October 21, at the House of the Dove, with her family by her side. She was born on August 13, 1951, in Marshfield, to William and Bernice (Schnitzler) Volovsek. She spent her youth in Willard, WI, two years of high school at the Caroline Academy in Mequon, WI, returning back to Greenwood to graduate with the Class of 1969. From there, she moved to Marshfield, acquired a Medical Assistant certification, and worked at the Marshfield Clinic for several years. During this time, she participated in the 1970 Miss Marshfield competition.

During her marriage to Edward Klinke, her only child Jeanie Marie, was born in 1982.

With higher aspirations, she pursued and received her RN degree, specializing in geriatric nursing. As well as working in various area nursing homes, she took a turn as a traveling nurse, exploring such places as Tennessee, Texas, and Colorado. This enabled her to combine her two passions - traveling and caring for others.

Not one to sit still for long, Diane loved to explore and travel, visiting many interesting places within Wisconsin, as well as venturing to many other states.

Always with a giving heart, she volunteered her time and services to various organizations that included Boy Scouts of America, Wausau Community Theater, the LDS church, and The Salvation Army, taking special joy in bell ringing during the holidays.

When health issues forced her into early retirement, she was able to spend more time with her daughter and only grandson, Joseph. It also enabled her to delve more deeply into her genealogical history, where she would spend hours a day researching and recording her extended family. Her dream was to eventually travel to Slovenia, where she could get closer to the archival records of the Volovsek family, which sadly, was not to be, as she was diagnosed with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer just prior to planning her trip. Her hopes are that someone in the family will not let her efforts end with her.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Jeanie, and her grandson, Joseph, her sisters, Nancy Jo (Don) Garner, and Shari (Duane) Hahn, a sister-in-law, Rosemary Volovsek, nieces and nephews, Jay (Jennifer) and Nick Volovsek, Matthew Hahn, and Kerry (Glen), Don, and Aaron Garner, and several Grand-nieces and -nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Bernice Volovsek, brother, Michael, a grand-nephew, Sidney, and her grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 4th, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2207 W. 5th St, Marshfield, WI. Visitation one hour before services, with a private burial at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to one of the following: House of the Dove Hospice, 1000 W. 11th St, Marshfield 54449; Dr. Wm Olson Foundation/Clark County Internet Library, Attn: Sandy Klinke, W8824 Chickadee Rd, Willard 54493; or Marshfield Area Genealogy Group, PO Box 337, Marshfield 54449.

Heartfelt thank you to the many friends, relatives, and church members who supported us through this difficult time. Special thanks go out to the staff at House of the Dove, as well as all the medical personnel affiliated with Marshfield Medical Center. Although her journey here on Earth has ended, may her adventures continue in the Everlasting.
