Douglas Smith Obituary
Douglas Smith, 78, of Horsepasture, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1944, to the late Georgie Massengill Smith and John Wesley Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Smith was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and worked as an electrician for Dupont and Nylstar.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Smith; daughters, DeAnna Pegram (Tommy) and JoAnna Griffith (Glenn); sisters, Jimi Lawrence, and Sue Carter; grandchildren, Kara Tapscott (Kenny), Sarah Williams (Aaron), Hannah Rusgrove (Travis), Thomas Pegram (Krista), Chase Griffith, and Reagan Griffith (Josh); and great-grandchildren, Hallie, Heidi, and Liam.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Aldridge and Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 until 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Fair Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 18075 A.L. Philpott Hwy., Ridgeway, VA 24148, or Mountain Valley Hospice, 240 Commonwealth Blvd. W Unit 602B, Martinsville, VA 24112.
