Sarah Shelton Obituary
Sarah Scott Shelton, 76, of Bassett, slipped away to be at rest on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Sovah – Health Martinsville. Sarah was born on Thursday, June 27, 1946, to the late Frederick Scott Jr. and Dorothy Geter Scott. In addition to Sarah's parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Hepisy S. Mitchell.
Sarah was a member of High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church for a number of years.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James "Teddy" Edward Shelton Sr. of the home; a son, James "Jay" Edward Shelton Jr. of Danville, Va.; a brother, Frederick Sinclair Scott (Karen) of Sherman, Texas; and two sisters, Gwenevere S. Dockett (Julius) of Converse, Texas, and Brenda S. Kirby (Donald) of Martinsville, Va.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12 Noon Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The Homegoing Celebration will begin at 12 Noon with the Rev. Charles Whitfield and the Rev. Keishawn Nibblett, officiating. Interment will follow at the Wade Family Cemetery on Rock Hill Community Rd.
