Shirley May Ashby McBride, 89, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. She was born on September 15, 1935, to the late Boyd Lester Ashby and Georgia May Martin Ashby, in Martinsville, Virginia. Shirley is predeceased by her brother, Joseph Carol Ashby.
Mrs. McBride is survived her husband, Billy Edwin McBride; daughters, Kimberly Young (Robert) and Anissa McGuire (Robert); sons, William McBride (Ginger) and Larry McBride (Sandra); brothers, Jimmy Lester Ashby (Frances) and Jerry Hylton Ashby (Gloria); grandchildren, Eric McBride (Amanda), Chris Lackey, Brent Giffin (Jessica), Damian Giffin (Chasity), and Kevin Lackey; great-grandchildren, Ezra Giffin, Hailey McBride, Piper McBride, Gage Giffin, Olivia Giffin, and Jaxxon McBride; and step-grandchildren, Jeremiah Giffin and James Giffin.
A visitation to receive friends and family will be held Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville. The funeral will be Monday, July 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor JD Harmon officiating. The burial will take place at Roselawn Burial Park immediately following the service.
