Carol Ann (Patrell) Lamothe died early Friday October 1, 2021 at home after a brief illness. She died two days before her 93rd birthday.
Born October 4, 1928 to the late Oliver L. Patrell, Jr. and the late Mary (Doyle) Patrell, Carol was raised in Springfield and attended Springfield schools. She graduated from the former Classical High School in 1946, and received a Bachelor’s degree from Bates College in Lewiston Maine in 1950. She married the late Richard Lamothe in 1955 a marriage which lasted more than six decades until his death in 2017.
She worked for several years as a social worker at the YWCA in West Hartford, CT, and at the Girls Club in Springfield. She then became a bookkeeper for A&W Root Beer, and years later, for Holy Cross Church in Springfield. She was also a communicant of Holy Cross.
She and Richard were quite active in outdoor activities, belonging to both the Springfield Ski Club in Blandford, MA and the Springfield Yacht and Canoe Club in Springfield. She was also a bus monitor for the Springfield schools and volunteered in several activities in her daughter Kathy’s Girl Scout troops. Later in life, she became involved in a senior citizens’ group at Holy Cross as well as the Catholic Women’s Club in Springfield.
Besides her husband and parents, Carol is also predeceased by her brothers Oliver Patrell, III, of Old Lyme, CT and Donald Patrell, of New York, NY, and her sister, Denise Shea, of Springfield, who was a Nurse in a hospital in Springfield.
Carol is survived by her son, William Lamothe, of Natick MA; her daughter Mary Lamothe and son-in-law Nathan Tinker, both of Trumbull, CT; and daughter Kathy, of Springfield; three grandchildren: Jonathan, Alex, and Elizabeth, all of Trumbull. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at noon Saturday, October 9 at Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Rd, Springfield. Burial will be held privately at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam. Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation is in charge of these arrangements.

Dear Mary, Kathy and all of your family. I was so sad to learn of your moms passing. I have so many memories of your mom growing up. I really enjoyed my brief visit with her last fall and i thought how wonderful she was. Inspirational! Im sure she will be with you always in memories and spirit.

My husband Philip and I are saddened by Carols passing. I have wonderful memories of her and Richard from growing up and from being next door neighbors. Caro;was a lovely person with a vibrant personality. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I lived across the street from Carol and her family all us kids hung around in the neighborhood, carol and her husband got married the same day my parents did, such a great lady she is the only person I would let call me MaryAnn, the Belanger and Sokolowski families sent our condolences to her family, she will be missed
