Charles "Charlie" Joseph O'Donnell, of South Hadley, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, surrounded by his family. Born in Holyoke in 1962, Charlie grew up in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School before earning a degree in mathematics from North Adams State College. He went on to build a successful career as an insurance executive.
Charlie faced a decades-long battle with cancer with unshakable courage, strength, and gratitude. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and deep devotion to his family. He was a loving husband and father whose presence shaped their lives in countless ways.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; his daughter, Kelli; brothers Patrick and James; sister Ann, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. at Beers and Story Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and burial at South Hadley Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in honor of Charlie's enduring spirit. For more information, please visit www.beersandstory.com

I worked with Charlie for the past 7 years and always enjoyed my conversations with him. Before he moved back to Massachusetts, we discussed meeting him and his wife for dinner at one of his favorite restaurants in New Smyrna Beach. I wish we could have made that happen. I will always admire Charlie for his experience, knowledge, strength and character. I miss chatting with him but pray his soul is resting peacefully with the Lord. My deepest condolences are sent to the family.
