Leon Grice Sr, 75, of Springfield passed at his home on July 8th. He was born in Montgomery Alabama on November 17th 1945 to the late Rubin and Tressie Grice. Leon served his country with honor in the United States Army and was proud of his time in Alaska. He later worked for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority as a toll collector for many years. Leon was a prideful man and will be remembered as a good neighbor who would be there to help when he could. Leon was a proud homeowner and had a green thumb, always tending to his yard, especially the many colorful flowers that adorned his yard. Leon also loved his cars and always kept up on the latest models. He will be missed dearly by his family including his children: Sharon Williams, Leon Grice Jr, Tracy Grice, and Tamara Caldwell; his dear former wife, and mother to Leon and Tracy, Queenie Grice, and his beloved sister Loretta Mbani. He also leaves his grandchildren Ameina Josey, Travaughn Josey, Malachi Barnes, Zephaniah Barnes, Ishmael Barnes, Nyvia Medina, Gabrielle Gonzales, Victoria Grice; four great grandchildren, and other grandchildren; as well as nephews Vincent Wright Jr and Demond Miller Jr. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres funeral home on Thursday July 22nd from 11am to 1pm for a period of visitation. Leon will then be laid to rest with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 2pm.
