DUKEDOM - Gail F. Roberts, 88, of Dukedom, in Graves County, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray
Mr. Roberts was born on Dec. 13, 1936, in the Dukedom community of Graves County, to the late Ulmont and Kathleen Roberts. Gail attended Cuba High School, where he was a welterweight Golden Glove boxer. He went on to become a farmer, businessman, and public servant. He owned and operated Gail Roberts Auto Body Repair, worked for the Kentucky Department of Highways, and spent many years as a cattle farmer. His farming was recognized by awards including the Kentucky Beef Cattlemen's Association Commercial Producer of the Year Award, the Commissioner's Environment and Sustainable Agriculture Award, and the Graves County Conservation District Master Conservationist Award.
Gail served his community over the years as a member of the Graves County Board of Education, the Wingo Lions Club, and the Wingo Volunteer Fire Department. He was also the chairman of the board of directors for Graves County Bank and the campaign manager for Kentucky Governor Wendell Ford.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Glen Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anita Charlton Roberts; one brother, Larry (Linda) Roberts of Dukedom; one son, Chuck Roberts of Water Valley; one daughter, Shari (Rory) DeWeese of Dukedom; four grandchildren, Shelby (Joseph) DeWeese of St. Paul, Minnesota, Story DeWeese of San Jose, California, Owen Roberts of Mayfield, and Emily Roberts of Louisville; as well as two great-grandchildren, Lawson Roberts and Rory Grace DeWeese.
Funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo. Visitation will begin at 1p.m. until the service hour. Pallbearers will be Chuck Roberts, Owen Roberts, Shane Roberts, Shannon Roberts, Rory DeWeese, and Jeff Baker.
