FLEMINGSBURG — Eugene "Gene" Jett, 91, of Flemingsburg, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Fleming County Hospital.
Born in Mason County on December 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Charles Elmer Jett and the late Lillian Cubberly Jett.
Gene was the superintendant at the Fleming County Water Association for 43 years and also owned and operated Jett Heating and Plumbing. He was a member of the Fleming 112 Masonic Lodge for 70 years. He also attended Flemingsburg Christian Church and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son, Johnny (Donna) Jett of Wallingford; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Nicholas Jett; his great-great-grandchildren, Gideon Creed Jett and Raylynn Grace Jett; several nieces and nephews; and his companion of 12 years, Virginia Belt.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Leota Hawkins Jett; his son, William Eugene "Billy" Jett; his grandson, Johnny Eugene "John" Jett; and his siblings, Billy Jett, Marjorie Gorman, Ralph Jett, and Dorthy Nell Jett.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church with Bro. Tom Fern officiating.
Gene will be laid to rest in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Josh Stacy, Steve Fearin, John Colgan, Sherman Thompson, Jason Smedley, and Nicholas Jett. Honorary Pallbearers include Billy Dyer, Craig Smith, Paul Hamilton, Butch Hall, and Dennis Forte.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church. Masonic rights will be performed at 7 p.m.

Loved seeing him visit his son Johnny on various job sites. I know his family miss him dearly. He was such a gentle soul and passed this down to his family. He is so missed by everyone who has seen him on the show.

As a young engineer, I recall working with Mr. Jett on a water line project in the Flemingsburg area back in the mid-1980s. Mr. Jett was very friendly and good to work with.
