MAYSVILLE — Martin "Marty" S. Sauer, 83, of Maysville, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025.
He was born in Maysville on Dec. 1, 1941, the son of the late Manyard Davis Sauer and Ethel Mae Gardner Sauer.
Marty started his career as a Delivery Driver for Detrich's Florist. He then went on to serve for many years as a Police Officer for the Maysville Police Department and as a Mason County Sheriff's Deputy. Marty retired from the Mason County Schools where he served as a bus driver for over 53 years.
He was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church. Member of the Greater Mason County Amateur Radio Club, and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Limestone Lodge #5. For numerous years, Marty enjoyed his favorite hobby of working on electronics.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Brown Sauer; his sons, Marty Sauer (Pam) and Troy Sauer; grandchildren, Dalton Sauer (Mattie) and Brandon Sauer; great-grandchild soon to be Ellis Blake Sauer; Siblings, Betty Lou Bullard, Carolyn Beckett (Larry), Bonnie Sauer, Mary Evelyn Clark, and Martha Fulton
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William D. Sauer; father-in-law Alvin R. Brown, and his mother-in-law Opal P. Brown.
Funeral services for Marty Sauer will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, with Dr. Michael Rice officiating. Entombment will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories.
Pallbearers will be Tony Sauer, Larry Mullikin, Jamie Fulton, Roger Clark, Tim Nolder, and Keith Mullikin. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Hardees Breakfast Club.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Memorials may be made to the VFW Auxiliary Post 2734, PO BOX 33, Maysville, Kentucky 41056, to the Fraternal Order of Police Limestone Lodge #5, 8000 Taylor Mill Rd, Maysville, Kentucky 41056 or P.O.
