MAYSVILLE — Shelvy Jean Wilson, 85, of Maysville, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Wilson was the widow of Marion W. Wilson who passed in 1998.
Shelvy retired after thirty-five years of service as a teacher and librarian for Straub Elementary School. She was a graduate of Morehead State University, a member of Seddon Global Methodist Church where she was the organist for thirty years, sang in the choir and the Adult Sunday School Teacher. Shelvy also was a member of the Mason County Retired Teachers Association and had served on the board for the Maysville-Mason County Public Library.
She was born in Maysville on July 7, 1940, the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Underwood Craft.
Survivors include her three children, Sheila Wilson of Maysville, Stephanie Bishop (Eric) of Cincinnati and Richard Wilson (Brenda Watters) of Lexington; her two grandchildren, Lily Bishop of Chicago, Ill. and Enor Bishop ( Max Nutter) of Los Angeles, Calif. and her niece, Annie VanMeter and her nephew, John VanMeter.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mitzi Craft VanMeter.
Funeral services will be held at the Seddon Global Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, with Rev. Charles Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Memorials may be made to the Seddon Global Methodist Church, 1317 Forest Avenue, Maysville, KY 41056.
