Alex J. Max Skubik, 74, of Northampton, died Sept. 5 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Barczy) Skubik. He was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Strong-DD 758. He was employed part-time by Newhards Pharmacy. He was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, Northampton. He was a member of Catholic War Veterans Post 454, V.F.W. Post 4714 and American Legion Post 353, all of Northampton. He was a member of the Democratic Club, South Bend, Ind. He was an avid sports fan and spotter for Northampton High School during the 1970s. He loved Penn State and Notre Dame, often traveling to both for football weekends, and the Flyers and Eagles. Survivors: Daughter, Mary Ann and husband Thomas DalPezzo, and sister, Elizabeth and husband Stephen Szilagyi, all of Northampton. Uncle Max will be sadly missed by Mary Anns brother, Ric Soares, and sister, Toni Fox, Alex and Clarence DalPezzo, nieces and nephews, loving families and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Pete, and a sister, Manya Volk. Services: military, 10 a.m. Saturday, Reichel Funeral Homes Inc., 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Viewing, 7-9 p.m. Friday. The family encourages visitors to dress in casual attire or wear team apparel to celebrate Maxs life. Contributions: Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, c/o the funeral home 18067.
