Amy Stendell Obituary

Amy L. Stendell
Amy L. (Miller) Stendell, 47, of Slatington, joined her father in Heaven, February 4, 2014. She was the wife of David B. Stendell. The couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary last October 3. Born in Allentown, March 11, 1966, Amy was the daughter of Ellen J. (Moser) Miller of Schnecksville and the late Dr. Richard W. Miller. A graduate of Conrad Weiser High School, Robesonia and East Stroudsburg University, with a BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management, she was the Sales and Event Director at Silver Creek Country Club, Hellertown for the last 11 years. Amy was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Schnecksville. While at East Stroudsburg University, she played womens basketball, holding career records for blocking and rebounding. Her love and knowledge of the sport was shared with Zachary and his friends. The manner and speed in which she displayed her creativity was unique and unfailing. Her friends were many; Amy will be remembered by the memories she left with each of them. She made us laugh! Survivors: In addition to her husband; and mother; sons, Jason, Joshua, and Zachary; siblings, Dr. Donna L. Miller of Bethlehem, Scott A. Miller of Sewell, NJ, Enid S. Rank of Center Valley, Dr. Melinda B. Lucas of Quakertown; one niece; eight nephews. Services: A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 PA Route 873, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dennis W. Moore officiating. The family will receive guests at a reception following the service in the Schneck Family Life Center of the church. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zachary R. Stendell Education Fund c/o The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196. The fund is being established by the members of Silver Creek Country Club in memory of Zacharys mother.

Dear Stendell and Miller Families: We want to express our deepest sympathies to all of you on Amy's passing. My daughter, Kendall, worked with Amy at Silver Creek for a short time and they both shared a love of basketball. But, more than that, my family (the Gernerds) grew up with the Millers through our church. I have a lot of memories of young Amy from church functions like Bible School and Christmas pageants. It's just really sad to lose someone so young and I hope you are able to celebrate the time she had on this Earth by remembering the great person she was. Again, our deepest sympathies to all of you.

Dear David, Zach, Jason and Josh,
When I received the sad news last week my thoughts travelled to all of my "Amy" memories. Whether it was her crashing her shopping cart into mine at the Weis or visions of her chugging from her gallon of ice tea I could not help laughing out loud, and also shedding some tears. As Marcie mentioned her wedding day I too remember that incident all too well, as in Amy fashion she could be scolding you but you often were brought to tears in abundant laughter. Though we haven't worked together in a few years I still had contact with her and always considered her a friend. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as your loss is magnificent. She loved you and spoke of you whenever our paths crossed, right after she would slam (on purpose) into my shopping cart blurting out "hey sunshine, how the hell are ya!" Don't hesitate to call on me if you need anything.

Amy was more than one of a kind. she was always there for you no matter what, she got you to reach for the stars with her, she made you laugh, made you think. She always rallied the troops and always made sure she always did something special with Zach - that was her inner light and strength. Well sunshine, it's so hard to say good bye so we'll just say - till next time. All our love to David and Zach ..she was such a truly special person and everyone who had the fortune to have met and known her ..was a better person for it! May your brackets always be true

Words cannot express the person, mom, or worker Amy was.... you just had to sit and watch her in action and then you just knew. You knew that her intensity, compassion and dedication was like no other. My time with Amy, without a doubt, was too short but the life lessons she taught....they are eternal. No matter what she was battling, she was always flashing that infectious smile followed by her "amy" chuckle and beaming about her boy Zach!!!

My deepest sympathies to David and Zach , your loudest cheerleader is still watching and cheering, just from a place where she is finally healed and free from pain. Her legacy will never be forgotten !

David & Zachary....my deepest condolences to each of you & to all of Amy's family. My life was blessed to have known Amy. I worked with her at Glasbern and she can be best described as a whirlwind. We always knew when Amy was about to burst through the office door. She was full of life and lived life to the fullest.

My best memory was on her wedding day, helping her pin the train on her dress and I pricked my finger with the safety pin & she's yelling at me, "Dammit Marcie, don't you dare get blood on my freaking dress!" We were laughing so hard we were nearly crying.

She truly was one of a kind and those of us who knew her, were all the more blessed for it.

To the Stendell/Miller families, we would like to extend our deepest sympathy for your loss. Amy was a lovely person whom we have known from the club. Her talent knew no bounds. She was instrumental in helping with a number of private events we had for our family, all of which were raved about by all who attended. From the time she knew she was sick, she carried herself with such dignity. She never complained, always looked on the bright side and had hope for the future. We will keep you all in our prayers, as you travel through this very sad time. She was taken too soon, especially from Zachary. May she rest forever in heavenly peace.
