Arlene M. Kresge, 79, of McMichaels died Sunday, June 26 in St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of Howard Al Kresge. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Valentines Day. Born in Effort, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Grace (Heiney) Altemose. Arlene was a 1949 graduate of Chestnuthill High School. She was an active member of McMichaels United Methodist Church and a member of the DAR. Arlene enjoyed antiques, gardening, cooking and researching the Altemose family roots. Survivors: In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Debra Muir and her husband John of Kunkletown, Dale Kresge and his wife Sue of Saylorsburg, Linda Borger and her husband Blaine of Kunkletown and Jayne Werkheiser and her husband Joe of Saylorsburg; a daughter-in-law, Jen Kresge of McMichaels; a sister, Betty Williams of Kunkletown; two brothers, Martin Altemose of Stroudsburg and James Altemose of Saylorsburg; 11 grandchildren, Shane and Stacey Kresge, Daniel and David Muir, Eric, Danielle, and Ryan Kresge, Meggin Ostile and Kristin Heller and Sarah and Aaron Pratt; two step-grandchildren, Ken and Jona Werkheiser and four great-grandchildren, Dylan Kresge, Ella and Brodie Muir and Matthew Kresge. She was preceded in death by a son, Dean in 2005, by three brothers, Russell, Carl and Ernest Altemose, Jr. and by a half-sister, Dorothy Hardenstine. Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30 from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Edward Unangst officiating. Burial will be in McMichaels Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
