Anita and Carl,
I just found out about Brett's passing. Please accept my sincere sympathies. He was a wonderful person and a great neighbor....always pleasant and smiling. Find peace in knowing you were the best parents anyone could ask for. He was a lucky son.

God looked around His garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.

No word I can say will ease the sorrow that we all share. God knew what He was doing when Brett and I walked together on our journey toward Heaven. Brett's journey is now complete, and Brett left a wonderful legacy for all of us to enjoy. I praise and thank God for bringing Brett into my life and am privileged, blessed, honored, and humbled to be given such a precious gift from God! You are in my heart, in my thoughts, and in my prayers! Hugs!

All of Brett's friends at the MS Wellness Program at Good Shepherd were very saddened to hear of his passing. Because of Brett's love of art and his desire for others to personally experience their own creative process, Brett began the successful Broken Art Creativity Class at Good Shepherd. Many people living with MS enjoyed and continue to enjoy the ongoing art program he began with us. We will all miss Brett's kind, gentle and compassionate spirit. Brett and his good will, kindness and warm smile were glowing examples on how we can do the same in our lives: live with purpose and be the best we can be. Sometimes it is hard for those whose lives have been limited by disability to think that they can have a life worth living, but realize that everyone can touch the life of someone else by just caring, listening and being a friend, no matter what their disability is. Brett was an example of that, one that we will forever cherish.

Dear Carl and Anita,
Tears flowed as I heard in Mass about Brett...My
husband, Jack, recently took a job in Iowa and Carlye Cristian and the children have been staying with us in Lenhartsville since October so we haven't seen you...I think the last was Halloween...I looked forward to meeting up with Brett on his strolls around the neighborhood and passing your home and sharing a quick hello, it kept us connected to your family...I never stopped thinking about Brett...the impact of getting to know him on a deeper level was a Blessing. I feel as if an Angel has left and gone back to Heaven. As much as his presence here on earth was an incredible Blessing for everyone, it would be selfish to deny him total healing which, I believe, he has now. The words "Well done good and faithful servant" I believe were spoken to him a week ago Sunday. Thank you for who you are and the great witness of Faithful Servants you have been as well. Brett will be greatly missed.

Although I only knew Brett through the Internet and email, his grace and good humor came through loud and clear. As a fellow comrade in arms struggling with MS, I will always remember the smiles Brett brought to my face, even though we never met in person. Simply put, he was a good soul. Hoping that he's enjoying his Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey, Marylin, and his beloved Sophie…

Brett was a indeed a true renaissance man. His obituary is actually rather small in comparison to the significant impacts he had on those who were fortunate to know him. In a world desperate for role models, Brett will be sorely missed. However Brett's teachings, artwork, faith, and energy will live on through his family, friends, and pupils. Godspeed, Sir Brett. Thank you for everything!

Uncle Carl and Aunt Anita.
Brett was one of a kind. A Scientist, Artistic Painter, Musician, Teacher, Son, Brother, Cousin, and Friend -Brett was indeed a renaissance man and role model for so many. I always looked up to Brett, and still do. He will now and forever will be, an inspiration to those with (and without) MS, and a champion of research. Brett selflessly gave everything he raised in countless fund raisers to finding a cure. I used to admire athletes. However, Brett, opened my eyes as to what true courage, heroism, and faith resemble. He will not be forgotten.

Dear Weber Family, We sat behind Dr. Brett and his family at Sunday Mass for years and we feel that he and they became part of our family. As such, their tears are our tears, and our prayers and condolences are with him and his family for always. As fellow parishioners, we learned from our priests but also from observing the actions and spirituality of Brett and his family. For that we thank him and his family. Dr. and Mrs. Matthew A. Brett had touched so many lives that he came in contact with. He had the support from both of you which was amazing to see the interaction, love and humor the visits would be at the "1230". He was such the intellect and his wicked sense of humor was infectious to all who came in contact with him. Brett accomplished so much in his short life with us on earth. With deepest sympathy

My deepest condolences to your family. I do not know you or Brett, however when I came across his obit I had to read on... to young to have been taken.. too educated and deserving to have so much yet to accomplish. My daughter who suffers from kidney disease has recently graduated from college with her degree in biology... wanted to be a doctor and is indecisive on how she wants to spend her time. I want to use this young man as an example for her to push on Life is no guarantee for any of us... God bless all of you. Be proud of all of his wonderful accomplishments!!

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Weber & extended family,
My own words are so inadequate at this time. God Bless You.
John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Dear Weber family, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Brett about 5 years ago when he was receiving care from Lehigh Valley Home Care. I so looked forward to visiting him. He was so full of wisdom and Sophie was always by his side, protecting and loving him. Such two wonderful spirits living each day side by side. Please take care and know there are so very many people who are aware of all the wonderful care and support you gave to Brett.

Dear Carl, Anita and Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved Brett. His Earthly journey is ended but his Eternal life in Heaven has just begun. Brett's life was a remarkable one.... he accomplished so much and his talents touched the lives of so many. His Spirit will live on in the hearts of so many people forever.
Your lives were forever changed when MS entered. It was that "elephant in the room" that you wanted to ignore.... but you couldn't. I know from taking care of my beloved Charlie that each and every day was a challenge but Brett and you faced it head on. Your love and Faith allowed you to do whatever was necessary to make Brett's life a shining example of the courageous battle that MS patients could fight.
Although MS won the battle by destroying Brett's body..... it never destroyed Brett's Spirit.... until the end. His body is gone from your lives but Brett will never leave you. Without a doubt, Brett and Charlie will be watching over you and me. They will be"putting in a good word" with Our Heavenly Father for all that we did for them on Earth. I know that Brett, Charlie and all of our loved ones who have left this Earth will intercede for us to grant us Peace and Strength to continue our lives.
Anita and Carl, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. You know that I am only a phone call away.
Sending you much love,
Joan
