Bruce J. McFarland

1947 - 2021

Bruce J. McFarland, 73, of Slatington passed away peacefully Sunday, January 24, 2021 in his home. He was the husband of Judith (Bolton) McFarland, whom he married on October 10, 1964. Born in Bowmanstown on January 30, 1947, he was the son of the late Clair and Elaine (Boward) McFarland. Bruce worked for Mack Trucks on the assembly line and the USPS for many years until his retirement. Prior to, he was a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel heat treatment plant, and a punch press operator at Lehigh Structural Steel, and also was a member of the Laborers Union. An avid hunter, and fisherman, Bruce also enjoyed football, baseball and NASCAR. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Star Hose Co # 1, the Slatington Skeet Club. He also belonged to the Sons of the American Legion, Heidelberg Game Protective Assoc., and the Diamond Fire Company.

In addition to his wife Judith, he is survived by children: Steven McFarland and wife Justine, Shannon McFarland and fiancé Rick LaBarre; five grandchildren: Cayleah Schaffer, Christopher McFarland, Samantha Hughes, Ricky LaBarre, Ian McFarland; 3 great-grandchildren; brother: Darryl McFarland and wife Diane; sisters: Colleen and husband Earl Rumble, Yvonne and husband Larry Szoke; 2 nieces & 6 nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his first-born son, Scott J. McFarland.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington PA. Family and friends may pay their respects from 1 to 2PM. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
