Melinda, Chris, and Austin,

I am very sad to learn that Bruce has passed on. I worked for Bruce when we both worked for Pall. We spent many hours together on the road back then in the 1980's. I will always remember him as a man who gave his all in whatever he did and, most importantly, a man of high integrity.

The Passing of Mr. Salisbury

On Wednesday, June 22, what seemed like a thousand people paid their respects at the funeral home viewing for Bruce Henry Uhl. A line that began before 6pm moved steadily until well past 9pm. Salisbury Township had lost one of its best and brightest to a heart attack at age 57.

Bruce Uhl was an extraordinary individual. He possessed by far the highest combination of brains, athleticism, and leadership/people skills the SHS class of 1972 had to offer. And on top of that, he was a genuinely nice guy, loving husband, and devoted father to two exceptional sons.

Bruce was our popular and well-qualified Senior Class President. He was also the class of 1972 Scholar-Athlete award winner at a time when only one award was given annually, as opposed to one for each major sport. Given today’s guidelines, Bruce would have easily been the top candidate for multiple Scholar-Athlete awards as a gifted student and standout player in both basketball and football. Ask retired SHS faculty members to recall a student from the early 1970’s who impressed them as especially talented and well-balanced. No one would be mentioned more often than Bruce.

Following high school, Bruce earned an engineering degree from Lehigh University and began a career in which his always active relationship-building skills would serve him and his family well.

Bruce was President of the Salisbury High School Alumni Association, and in that capacity he delivered a commencement award each year to the class valedictorian. He knew many other members of each class as well, having coached them for years in basketball, football, and baseball. Bruce even found time to serve on the Salisbury Education Foundation, as the former Director of the SYA Basketball Program, and as Past President of the Salisbury Boys Basketball Booster Club. And whenever it was time for an alumni reunion – formal or informal – Bruce’s effective organization and persuasion skills transformed the idea into reality.

Has the Salisbury Township School Board ever conferred a posthumous “Pillar of the Falcon Community” award? If not, the time has come to discuss how to honor Mr. Salisbury.

Melinda, I was so saddened to hear about Bruce. We haven't seen each other in probably over 15 years, but I remember how welcoming and sweet your family was during the time when my oldest son Andrew was a young child at Connie Ganey's daycare. I remember those days with fondness as I came to know you and Bruce, and remember Andrew establishing a friendship with your son Chris at Connie's house. Our family is keeping you in our prayers. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

My heart goes out to you and your 2 boys for the sudden loss of a great individual and friend. Bruce and I worked at HYDAC together and share many memorable times together. Dear Melinda, Chris and Austin,
Bruce's passing stroke us deeply.

I met Bruce first when we decided to start the Process Technology business in US. Since this first day I was convinced that his responsibility taking, helpful and warm personality would be able to develop our business.
- but he was more than a successful manager.
He was a friend

Bruce was the kind of man you can send your growing son to, hoping he would take a piece of Bruce's family spirit and warmness into his own life as a young man.

I know that this makes your loss even harder, but I also know that this spirit will stay with the boys and guide them through their life.

We pray for you and wish deeply that you find comfort with Gods help.

Dear Melinda, Chris and Austin I went to school with Bruce and I will say he was one of the nicest people to pass thru the doors of Salisbury and apparently everything about him was genuine and followed him in his life here on Earth. Thy Will Be Done is such a difficult thing to hang onto at times but I believe with all my heart this is so true. So many live condenced lives and leave us what we feel is way too soon. It seem to be the ones who have touched the most lives. May God's blessing's give you peace and understanding and help you to know that Bruce will always live in and through you and watch over you from Heaven. Hold onto that because it so so true. May each day that passes be gentle to you. God's Blessings. Elley Casey-Strobl

Melinda, Chris and Austin,
We were shocked and saddened by the news of Bruce's passing. He was always a gentleman, highly thought of by the community (as you can see by the number of people that signed the guest book with glowing words).

I never ran into him that he didn't talk about you and the boys. A proud father and loving husband. In fact Austin was in the office just a few weeks ago and I teased him about being taller than his Dad.

Bruce lead by example, alway kind and generious. His legacy are the boys. With you as their Mother we know they will get the guidance they will need to become fine young men like their Dad.

Receive peace from God and know that one day you will be together again.

I am out of town and won't be back until after July 1, so when things settle down I would like to take you to lunch. Anything Evan or I can do to help make your life a little easier just ask.

Again you are in our prayer.

With heartfelt sorrow,

Melinda, Chris, and Austin,

On behalf of my family, I want to express my heartfelt sorrow at the loss of your dad, husband, and friend.

I first met Bruce last August at a basketball tournament in King of Prussia. Since that time, I've had the pleasure of talking to him on numerous occasions. Chris and Austin, his deep, unconditional love for you was evident in every single discussion I had with him. He loved talking about your athletic successes in basketball or soccer. And, he recalled with pride the many things that he and Melinda were fortunate to do for the youth of the Salisbury community.

I recall his warm hospitality just last month at your house when he couldn't do enough for EACH of the guests that were present for an enjoyable weekend barbeque. He was happiest if his guests and friends were happy. And, he was very happy that day!!

I can say without a doubt that I am a better person for having him as a friend for only less than a year.

Your husband and Dad was an amazing man who reached out to make a difference in others lives. For years, Bruce would always say to Luke, "Luke, do you play basketball? Melinda, I was really shocked and saddened by news of Bruce's passing. I've known Bruce through recent project work at Hydac, and in that very brief time I've recognized in Bruce a true professional, colleague and friend. Such people are rare indeed. We talked only last Friday, about how were both anticipating Father's Day with our kids. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. The best folks always seem to leave us far too early.

To the Uhl family:

As a group, we were saddened to learn of the passing of Bruce. We had the honor of competing against him and his teammates from Salisbury High School during the 1972 basketball season.

We always knew that Bruce would give his best every night. He was as tough a competitor of ours as we met all year on the court and yet as nice a person and a true gentleman off of it. That combination led us to respect and remember him over these many years.

Our thoughts are with you.

I work with Severn Trent De Nora in Sugar Land, Texas, and although I only met Bruce professionally on one occasion, he was truly a gentlemen and I held him in high reguard. He will be missed.
