Buster A. Guth

1932 - 2019

Dr. Buster A. Guth, of Perkasie, PA, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 13, 2019. He was 86 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Patricia A. (Snyder) Guth. On August 27, 2018, they celebrated 58 years of marriage. Born in Egypt, PA, to the late Douglas and Elsie A. (Crouthamel) Guth, Dr. Guth's life demonstrated service to others. As a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1950 to 1954 attaining rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in the United States and Japan. He was a 1950 graduate of Parkland High School in Allentown, PA. His Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education was from Kutztown University in 1963. His Master's Degree was from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, and he earned his Doctorate in Education from Nova University in 1976. Dr. Guth was a teacher and an administrator in the Souderton Area School District for 31 years. Following retirement, Dr. Guth enjoyed participating in local community activities. During the 1990's, he served as a member and President of the Perkasie Borough Council. He was an active volunteer with the Pennridge Community Center where he served as President from 2010-2017. He also was a member and President of the Perkasie Lions Club, as well as a former President of the Indian Valley Library Board of Directors in Souderton. His pastimes were that of being an avid reader, loving woodworking, and his fascination with various aspects of construction.In addition to his nieces and nephews, Dr. Guth is survived by his siblings, Dollard Guth, of Walnutport, PA, Bruce Guth, of Mechanicsville, PA, and his sister, Lucille Flamich and her husband Stanley, of Bath, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Guth, and a sister, Virgene Eisenhard.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street, Sellersville, PA. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be held privately in Union Cemetery, Slatington, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, or to the Pennridge Community Center, 146 E.
