Carl David Dries
Carl David Dries, 70, of Macungie, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at home with his family. He was the husband of Lois G. (Wetzel) Dries, to whom he was married 48 years. Born in Breinigsville, he was the son of Grace (Geist) Dries of Emmaus and the late Junior Dries. Before retiring in 2010, he worked at Allen Organ Co., Macungie for 50 years in various departments and lastly as an assistant foreman. For close to 15 years, he lastly worked craft shows under the name Iron Mountain Toys, showing his creations of wooden cars, toys, and banks. Along with his love for his antique cars, he currently held the office of activity director for Hershey Region Antique Car Club, was past president of the Ontelanee AACA, was a master judge of AACA, was a member of the National Ford V8 Car Club of America, held membership at Pottstown ACC., and since 1996, was re-elected and holding the office of Vice President at Hawk Mountain after serving as past president since 1981, where he could also enjoy his passion for hunting. He was a member of Zion Lehigh Church, Alburtis. For 22 years, he worked with Das Awkscht Fescht, Macungie. Survivors: Wife, Lois; mother, Grace; son, David L. and his wife, Lisa, of Kutztown; daughters, Melanie K. Caskie and her husband, Thomas, of Alburtis, Suzanne E. Moss and her husband, James, of Pine Grove; sister, Jane M. Laurito and her husband, Henry, of Nazareth; grandchildren, Laura, Paul, Jennifer, Michael. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 4 at Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Rd., Breinigsville. Calling 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday and 10 to 10:30 a.m., Monday at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Lehigh Zion Cemetery, Alburtis. www.schmoyerfuneralhome.com.
