Carl was such a wonderful man. As kids it was a special treat when our mom (his cousin) took us to his farm to visit. So it was special when I got to take my kids to his farm as well. When my daughter was holding her nose in the chicken house, Carl asked, with a twinkle in his eye, if her face hurt. He also took the kids up into his fire truck, which was a special treat for them. The world needs more people like him.

Vera Cruz will never be quite the same. Carl was a familiar sight driving the school bus and as a long standing member of the fire company. As a neighbor and fellow community association member for many years, I always admired his work ethic and wisdom.

I worked with Carl at the bus company and he was always friendly and had a smile on his face. He had the best PA Dutch accent. I loved it during the holidays when he'd wear his santa hat. To me he'll always be Santa. You are going to be missed Santa!
