Catherine Witczak Obituary

Catherine was 89 years of age, and a longtime resident of Fullerton, Whitehall Twp., when she passed away peacefully on Monday evening August 21, 2017 in Fellowship Community. Their care for her was extraordinary and compassionate, and we thank them for all they did for our family. The wife of Leo R. Witczak for 66 years, she was born in Cementon to the late John and Anna (Salovay) Turbedsky. Catherine was a member of Ss Peter and Paul Polish Catholic Church Allentown, where she enjoyed making pierogies. She was active in children's activities and education, and was a volunteer Girl Scout leader earlier in life. She was a very proud graduate of Whitehall High School Class of 1946, and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. Catherine enjoyed gathering with her classmates monthly since their graduation. She worked in the Emergency Room and OR at the former Allentown General Hospital, and was an OB Nurse for Dr. Michael Vigilante and Allen OBGYN Associates for many years. Survivors: beside her husband Leo; daughter Dr. Loretta Witczak Keil and her husband Bruce of Allentown; sons Jesse and his wife Pamela of Maryland, along with Joseph and his wife Charlene of Washington; grandchildren Bonni Taylor (Sache), Deanna Keil (Daniel), Garrett Witczak, Alyssa Keil, Lynea Oldfather (William), Michael Nelson, Devon Witczak, and Christopher Witczak; sister in law Betty Turbedsky of Allentown; she was predeceased by her brother Paul Turbedsky who passed away on March 9, 2010. Catherine, by title, was my mother-in-law. In reality, she was the heart and soul of a great family into which I married over 35 years ago. She had a smile that never dimmed, that warmed the heart of everyone she encountered. While sorely missed, her spirit will live on in her family for generations to come.

The Witczak family has been in my life since 1976! "Mrs W." was always welcoming whenever you saw her or were in her home. She always made me feel welcome and I enjoyed our "christmas" visits to catch up on the latest news about her family whom she loved to talk about. Not going to lie I enjoyed Leo's "Christmas Martinis" very much also. I hope this time that comes for everyone's family when you care so much for one person goes as smoothly and painlessly as possible. FYDS

To Catherine's family,
On behalf of Fellowship Community I want to extend our deepest sympathies over the passing of Catherine. It was our privilege to have had a part in her care, and I trust she sensed something of the great love of Christ in that care.
I pray that God's good comfort in Christ will be yours and that you will find much hope and encouragement in the promise of everlasting life for those whose faith and trust is in Jesus Christ.
With heart-felt sympathy,
Pastor Jake
