Cathy Barlok Obituary

Our beautiful, strong, independent, spunky mother passed away on December 20, 2021, at the age of 66. She was surrounded by loved ones as she gained her wings to heaven. Mom, above all, loved being with her family. She was the absolute best mom (taking on both roles of mother and father). She worked so hard to give her two girls the best lives they could possibly have while teaching them to be strong, independent women. She was the kind of person who put everyone else before herself and was always there for her family when they needed her. She took pride in her role as "Grammy"/"Mimsy" to all three of her grandchildren (with another on the way) and loved them with everything that she had. For this reason and many more, she will forever be in our hearts and eternally missed. Mom worked at Fellowship Community for 20+ years as the Director of Activities and Volunteers. While at Fellowship, she was in her element. She loved her staff, co-workers, and most of all, "her residents." She considered them all to be family. She enjoyed crafting and even created Fellowship Community's annual Holiday Craft Bazaar. She loved reading, going to the beach, and getting together with her friends and daughters for her favorite activities of shopping or grabbing a bite to eat. Born in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of Frederick and Dolores (Schadt) Marth. She was a 1973 graduate of Whitehall High School and received her education in interior design. She is survived by her daughters, Amanda D. Miller (and her husband, Eric Miller) of Bath, PA, and Abby E. Ryan (and her husband, Taylor Ryan) of Whitehall, PA; grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Miller, and Parker Ryan; mother, Dolores M. Marth of Whitehall, PA; and sister, Michele Vargo (and her husband, Doug Vargo) of Indiana.
Services will be 11:00 am Thursday December 30, 2021 in The Zentz Center of Fellowship Community 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall, PA 18052, where her family will receive guests beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will be private. Those who wish to honor Cathy with a memorial contribution, her family suggests a donation to an education fund being established for her grandchildren -- please make checks payable to Abby E. Ryan and mail to 444 Pershing Blvd. Whitehall, PA 18052-6411.

In the time my mom was a resident, I came to know Cathy as truly dedicated to the well-being of residents. She was insightful, and yes she had that sense of humor.

My deepest sympathies to you and your families. Cathy´s love for her residents was evident in all the special things she did for them & their families. Last Christmas I received a special gift in the mail from Cathy. A Christmas ball with snowmen, designed by using my Mom´s fingerprint, with a message " Once someone touches your heart, their fingerprints will last forever ". I treasure this message and know your Mom has touched many hearts. God bless you

I remember Cathy from Activities and the last time I saw her was at Hobby Lobby and she and Kim were shopping. Cathy was so excited. She told me her daughter Amanda was getting married. It was good to see her so happy. My most sincere sympathy to her family whom she loved very much. Rest in peace Cathy.

I extend my sincerest condolences to Amanda and her sister Abby - in the profound loss of their beautiful Mother. I don't know Mrs. Barlok, but I do know her daughter, Amanda. No doubt in my mind, she was an incredible woman full of love and life...just like her daughter. Amazing women, come from amazing women - strong, dedicated, committed, loving and caring. Amanda and Abby, I don't even know how to pen all that is in my heart. Your Mom was simply awesome. I learned so much from her. She gave me a chance to grow and shine at Fellowship. She shared her knowledge and also her heart with me. She was incredibly funny. She always made me laugh so hard. No one could tell a story like she could. She loved us, protected us and fought for us when necessary! She excelled at her vocation and had a lot to be proud of in her success. BUT there is NOTHING in this world that she was more proud of than you girls and your families. Even though I have never met either of you, I feel like I know you so well. YOU are her legacy. Thank you for sharing your mom with all of us. My life is so much better for knowing her and having her on my side. I have been praying for you all, every day, and I will not stop.
