Charles E. Futcher
Charles E. Futcher, 81, of Hanover Township, died Friday, June 18, 2004, in his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Lewis L. and Anna (Mowbray) Futcher. He was married to Florence (Gargan) Futcher. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last month. A graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, he was the controller of the former Lehigh Valley Railroad and then a director of operational planning and control for Con Rail in their corporate offices, Philadelphia, before retiring in 1988. He was a member of several accounting organizations throughout his career. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a former scoutmaster of Troop 10, Boy Scouts of America, Minsi Trail Council. He was an active member of the Saucon Valley Country Club. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; daughter, Mary A. Futcher and husband Edward J. Gaughan of Haddonfield, N.J.; sons, John E. and wife Patricia (Lyons) of The Woodlands, Texas, C. Michael of Carlsbad, Calif.; grandchildren, Kathleen, Mary, Amanda, Daniel; and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers. Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in the church. Call 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, and 10-10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Interment, Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwood. Contributions: St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105, Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd., Bethlehem, or a charity of choice.
