Dave Messics Obituary

Dave Messics passed away peacefully at home (surrounded by family) on January 7, 2023 after a 16 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 69. He had so much taken away from him physically, but he was always optimistic and determined not to let his Parkinson's beat him. Unfortunately toward the end of his life he struggled but put up a fierce fight. His wife and son are forever grateful to family, friends and neighbors for their endless support. Dave was born and raised in Bethlehem and was a 1971 graduate of Liberty High School. He went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree from Slippery Rock University in 1976. He eventually retired from a 30 year career as a Dental Sales Representative from KOMET Medical. People that knew Dave before his Parkinson's diagnosis will remember him as a person that loved playing any sport he could get his hands on. Rugby and Softball were by far his favorite!

*THE FAMILY WOULD LOVE DAVE TO BE REMEMBERED AS THE PERSON THAT MADE A FRIEND EVERYWHERE HE WENT, NEVER FORGOT YOUR NAME AND HAD A "GIFT OF GAB."

Dave is survived by his wife Gail (Ternosky) Messics, his son Jared, and sisters Shirley (Charles) Dalusio and Mary Ann Fisher. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Wilma (Kucsan) Messics.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, January 15, in the Pearson Funeral Home 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem. Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday from noon until service time. www.pearsonfh.com

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dave's name may be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Dave was a great guy and a good friend and a fellow Slippery Rock Alum- He was always upbeat and fun- and even though it´s been years since I last saw him- I can picture him with a big smile. I did not know what he was going through- but I can imagine how hard he fought to stay positive and overcome- Rest in peace, my friend! You will be remembered!

Gail, Jared, Shirley and Mary Ann: We were saddened to hear this news and are very sorry for your loss. David was a great man and I am sure that he was a wonderful husband, father and brother. I have fond memories of his visit to California and we had reconnected over social media. His "gift of gab" reminded me of my Mom, David's aunt Terry. Condolences from cousins Patty and Michael and the extended Becker family. Godspeed my friend.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Dave was always fun. His Ptarmigan Ski Club Halloween costumes were legendary!!! He was kind and fiercely loyal. He will be missed. The world is a bit sadder, duller and less bright with his passing.

Dear Messics family, I´m so saddened by your loss. Dave was on my bowling league team at Central Bowling Academy in the early 70s when we won the league title. He was always fun and upbeat; a pleasure to be around. I so enjoyed his company and his sense of humor. I recall him making me laugh quite frequently. May God bless you and give you peace as you remember your lives shared with him.
