Erin and Reagan,

Please know that your father loved you with all of his heart (more than the Yankees, Rangers or PSU). He will ALWAYS be watching over you and guiding you throughout your entire lives. Daddy would want you both to live your lives as he did...with a kind and generous heart. As the days and years pass, look for the signs daddy will leave for you...reminding you of how much he loved you.

Love,
Mom

So saddened to hear about Dave. He was such a great man, and Jeff's only other Cowboys fan at the Super Bowl Parties. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls. Thinking of you.

March 17, 2012

We knew Dave only through his managership at Applebee's on route 191. However, we routinely saw him at least once and often twice a week there. He invariably came over and spoke with us, no matter how busy the restaurant was. He spoke lovingly of his family to us, and we always inquired about his precious children. We were horribly shocked when we learned of his death just last night. Our server told us about it, and we sat there in utter disbelief. Naturally, we had just seen him the week before. Our most sincere condolences to his wife, children and family. Our sincere sorrow and dismay are beyond our ability to express.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Coffey family…..I heard the news yesterday and was immediately saddened by it. I knew Dave from the Applebee's on Rt. 191 and from the first day I met him, I considered him a friend and just a great, happy and honest guy to be around. I really enjoyed our time poking fun at each other about his N.Y. Rangers (as I know he was a dedicated fan) and my Pittsburgh Penguins. I will forever cherish the memories of my time knowing Dave and I pray that you will find comfort in all the great memories you all shared with him too. All my prayers go out to you and your family and may the Lord be with you through this tragic time. .

Sincerely,

Dave always had a way of making work feel a lot less like work. In our slow times when we would dream of opening our own ice cream shop. And sharing all the wonderful stories and pictures and videos of Erin. Dave's world definitely revolved around his girls. His smile and laughter touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.
Sydney, though we lost touch over the years I wanted you know I've been thinking of you and your girls and i send my love and my prayers to you all

Sydney,
Unfortunately, I have never met you, but I have seen your husband in the halls of Asbury. My name is Kim Sanchez & I am a four year old teacher at Asbury Preschool. When I heard of your tragedy, it broke my heart. I lost my husband suddenly about a year and a half ago... he left me with a ten year old and an eleven year old. There are no words to comfort you at such a difficult time. My kids have kept me going as I am sure your daughters will keep you going. Look for the signs because your husband will provide them for you ALL the time. If there is anything that I can possibly do for you or your family, you know where you can find me. May your husband and God grant you peace and comfort during this extremely difficult journey. God Bless and know you are not alone...

Dave was one of the funniest guys I've met. He was generous kind and all around great guy. I worked with him for a few years and we would all about our girls and how cool it was to see them grow I know there's a little one now but from what I remember Erin was his world then. On his days off I remember him stopping in with her for lunch and never putting her down. My heart aches for your family and the thought that these precious girls don't have their father. I will pray for you all and hope you all can find comfort in memories of him. God bless you all especially Sydney Erin and Reagan

We shared many a laugh together at the expense of making sure we ripped pop's Eagles; however, we also endured many ribbing's from pop when both your Cowboys and my Niners struggled, while those damn birds flourished. I was alway's honored to be your brother in-law, and felt priviledged to be Uncle D to your girls. In my heartest of hearts, I promise to go on riding Pop and those Eagles, but most of all to love, protect, cherish, support and help to provide for Sydney, Erin and Reagan; not because its my duty as their uncle, but because its what you would of wanted...and for you my friend, brother, and best father I ever knew...its an honor!

Your will forever be an inspiration and guiding light for me...

Dave was not only a manager to me, but a good friend. He was always a jokester especially when it came to sports. We would always tell him that he always seemed to be the manager on duty when every girls boyfriend broke up with them… after awhile he was always prepared and knew the right things to say, he was always there if you needed him, he believed in our Tuesday night Applebee's cheerleading team, and I will never forget those delicious peanut butter, jelly and mayo sandwiches he would make us. You have left us all with so many memories that we will never forget and you will be in our hearts forever.
