Edna Hahn Obituary

Edna G. Hahn
Edna G. Hahn, 90, of Hazlewood Rd., Lehighton passed away Sept. 28 in Blue Moutain Health System, Gnaden Huetten Campus. She was the wife of the late Allen J. Hahn. Born in East Penn Towhship, she was a daughter of the late Clavin and Clara Steigerwalt Haberman. Edna worked in the garment industry as a presser for many years. Her last employer was Peerless Mills, Lehighton. A devout member of Ben Salem United Church of Christ, she was instrumental in the churchs fund raising programs, sang on the church choir, and was a lifelong member of Ben Salem Sunday school. She was a member of Tawamensing Volunteer Fire Company and served on the ladies auxiliary. Survivors: Daughter, Lavaun Shanton of Lehighton; sons, Earl Knappenberger and his wife Shirley of Ashfield, and Gerald Knappenberger of Tamaqua; sister, Lilly Hagenbuch of Lehighton, 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; niece, and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Earl Haberman, grandson Allen Shanton, and her first husband, Marvin Knappenberger. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, Ben Salem U.C.C., 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, with the Rev. Jeffrey P. Kistler officiating. Call 9-11 a.m. at the church. Interment in Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Trachsville. The Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton, is in charge of the arrangements. Contributions: Memorials in her name may be made to Ben Salem Building or Memorial Fund, 18235.
