Ervin (Rick) T. Bosket, 65, passed away at St. Luke's Allentown Campus on Monday, February 22, 2021. Rick was enjoying his retirement from PPL Corporation in Allentown where he worked for 47 years. He spent most of his career (over 30 years) as part of the Computer Center Operations. As the company evolved, Rick moved to an oversight position for the mailroom and onsite logistic processes.

Rick was best known as a professional barber. He began his career as a barber while still in high school, working with his father after school and on weekends, to begin his training. Rick graduated from the Allentown School of Cosmetology, earned his barber license and subsequently earned his certification as a Barber Manager. Rick had many devoted customers who would only let Rick cut, trim, and make them look the best they could be. Rick could be found at all hours of the day and sometimes night servicing his loyal customers at Clyde's Barber and Beauty Shop.

Rick attended Dieruff High School and after moving with his family, he graduated from Salisbury High School where he was a star wrestler earning District 11 honors. He was a very social person and had the ability to walk into a room and be the center of attention. He was also a generous person who would help others in need but all of his friends and family would agree that he was a "talker." With Rick there was always something to talk about regardless of the setting whether it was cutting a person's hair or at the family reunions with his many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Rick was a Life Member of the Allentown NAACP and grew up attending Union Baptist Church in Allentown, PA.

Rick is survived by his wife of 19 years Helena Bosket; the mother of his 2 sons, Sherrie Bosket; sons Ervin (Rick) Bosket, Jr., and Justin Bosket; father, Clyde Bosket, Sr.; brothers Daniel Bosket and his wife Jevata, David Bosket, Clyde Bosket, Jr., John Lott and his wife Minnie; sisters Carolyn Bosket and Jennifer Davis; and many loving relatives who knew his quick smile and warm personality. He was predeceased by his mother, Mattie Bosket and sister Shirleen Pearson.

Funeral services for the family only will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Jesse Johnson Funeral Home located at 426 Hanover Avenue, Allentown, PA and will be broadcast on Zoom. A viewing for friends and well-wishers will be held on Sunday, February 28th, 2021 starting at 5:00PM and ending at 9:00PM. The viewing will be held at the Funeral Home.

Rick will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Memorial Park located at 1700 Airport Road, Allentown, PA following the funeral services.

My sympathies to Rick’s family. I saw him in Spring of 2019 about a 1 1/2 after he retired. He looked really good. Was happy as always, telling his “stories”. It makes my heart happy that this was my last time I saw him...happy. RIP Rick - take care of that mailroom in Heaven!

Rick was a shining light whenever he walked in a room. I met him shortly after moving to Allentown in the late 90’s and he was one of my favorite customers at a local pub. Years passed but I bumped into him this past fall and he recognized me immediately (makes and all!). We had a good long talk and it was so lovely to see Rick was just as fun and jovial as ever. I’m so sorry for your loss and thankful that I had a chance to reconnect with him after 20+ years. Sending prayers, love, and light to all who loved him. Rest In Peace Rick.

I had the pleasure of interacting with Rick at PPL. Did not work in the same department but would chat whenever he made mail deliveries to our department. Always had a smile on his face and could make you laugh over the darned things that happen in life. A truly good friend that would do anything to help. A few of us would meet him every now and then since he retired just to catch up. Good times and good food. He will surely be missed. I am wishing all of his family my deepest sympathies. So very sorry for your loss. He will be missed by so many.

I worked with Rick at PPL and he was ALWAYS smiling. He was a very warm and friendly co-worker. It’s sad that he left us so soon, but I know that he’s smiling more than ever now that he’s with his Lord and Savior. “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints” - Psalm 116:15. My condolences to his family.

Ervin was one of my "favorite" employees. He was a character, always talking, always joking and always smiling. If you were having a bad day, you needed to spend some time with Ervin, he would cheer you up in a flash. I was Ervin's Supervisor while he was in the mailroom with PPL. He was considered the "king pin" by his fellow employees. I wish you and yours well my friend, and may you forever rest in peace.

Wayne and I will miss Rick at Jabber Jaws where we would listen to each other's stories and had lots of laughs. He knew I did alterations and I put a New zipper in his favorite hoodie. He was very grateful and told me I was very good at sewing and gave positive words to pursue work because he said you can't find any more tailoring shops. His Dad was friends with Jane and Wayne's Stepdad, Ike. Jane and Sid White also give condolences. May he rest in peace. God Bless

Erv and I spent three years together wrestling at Salisbury HS. He was a fantastic wrestler who had tremendous balance. I could often get him in precarious spots only to have him turn the tables on me and end up on top. He made me laugh and made me a better wrestler. Sorry to see him leave us so early in life.
