Harold Basseches Obituary

Dr. Harold Basseches, 94, of Allentown, died on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Genesis Lehigh Center in Lower Macungie Twp. His wife, Edith (Hartenstein) Basseches, died in 2000. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Berkower) Basseches. Harold received his B.S. from City College of NY and earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He was a member of Temple Beth El in Allentown. Harold was a physicist, working as a civilian during WWII for the U.S. Navy and later retired from Bell Laboratories after 38 years of service to the company. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors: Daughter, Wendy Basseches Stahl and her husband, Dr. Peter Stahl; Sons, Dr. Peter Basseches and Thomas Jan Basseches; Grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Corey, Jeffrey, Elizabeth and Alex; and Great-Grandchildren, Parker and Aiden. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Temple Beth El, 1305 Springhouse Road, Allentown, PA 18104. Interment in Beth El Memorial Park. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: May be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or to Temple Beth El at the above address.
