Irene Keck Obituary
Irene M. Keck, 89, of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Luther W. Keck, Jr., with who she shared over 47 years of marriage. Her first husband, Charles Almer, Sr. died in 1958. Born in Bethlehem, she was the only surviving child of the late George E. and Sadie M. (Beck) Schaffer. Irene was an 85 year member of the West Side Moravian Church. She was a seamstress for the former Marvel Maid and also worked at Just Born Candies. Survivors: In addition to her husband; daughter, Carol A. Gower of Bethlehem; son, David A. Keck and his wife Kathy of Emmaus; step-daughters, Linda Gower and her husband Lowell of Ardreas, Bonnie Gerber and her husband Willard and Nancy Banditelli and her husband Robert, all of Tamaqua; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by a son, Charles Almer, Jr. and a daughter, Patricia Almer. Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service.
