Jack S. Silfies, 80, of New Tripoli, PA passed away on July 16, 2012 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. He and his beloved wife Shirlene J. (Rinker) Silfies celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past March. He was born in Allentown, a son of the late George and Vertie (Stettler) Silfies. Jack was a buyer and merchandise manager for the former H. Leh and Co. Dept. Store, Allentown, for 30 years until 1990. He later was employed by the Northwestern Lehigh School District as a school bus driver until retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Central Moravian Church of Bethlehem, PA, where he formerly sang on the Choir. Jack was a devouted father and family man. He was also an avid golfer, having set course records at various golf courses. Survivors: Survivors besides his wife includes a daughter, Jodi E. Stanley of New Tripoli; two sons, Gary L. Silfies of Allentown, and Tim D. Silfies of New Tripoli; a brother, George Silfies and his wife, Sue of St. Louis, MO; and eight grandchildren. Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Old Chapel at the Central Moravian Church, 73 West Church Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, with a visitation period beginning at 10 a.m. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Central Moravian Church at the above address.
