To Rick and the Tilley family: I remember Jim when he used to come into Hess in Coopersburg for gas. He was kind and pleasant, and always had a smile. Rick and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. My condolences.

To the Tilley Family, your dad was an amazing man and so kind. I remember him always being kind to me as a kid at the lodge. I loved seeing him on his walk around the park. Thoughts and prayers to all of you through this time. Love, the Ritter’s

To the Tilley family I am sorry for your loss. I was an iron worker and worked with Jim many years with LVE. He was one of if not the best operators I worked with. Along with that he was a great man and teacher to many. RIP

I met Jim 30 years ago when I had the privilege and honor of working with him in IUOE Local 542 . I had heard what a respected crane operator he was from my father in law , Jack Pheiff, who had worked side by side with Jim many times and was a friend of his. I learned a lot from watching Jim operate but even more from Jim's character, how he handled himself in very difficult and dangerous situations. He was always calm , tactful, polite but very assertive. His skill as a crane operaor was well known , admired and respected but as a man he was even more respected. Im glad I had the chance to work along side of him on various occasions, he was one of those people who leave a mark on your life by their guidance and their character. He was also an outstanding Union man, which also left an enduring impression on me. Jim made his mark on life and part of his legacy is his skill as a Union crane operator but more importantly, his character. I will remember him , the man he was and what he so graciously taught me and others, on how to be a Local 542 Union crane operator ! I'm sorry I cannot attend Jim's viewing to pay my respects due to health issues and the pandemic but I wanted Jim's family know how much I respected and admired Jim and how fortunate I was to know and work with him. Im sorry for your families loss, Sincerely , Ed Cann

To all the Tilley’s, we are sad to hear of the passing of James, your husband and father. He was a great man who served his country and served his community. I will always remember him from the community days and coming into the parts store for many years. Coopersburg was blessed to have such a wonderful caring person part of it, and my honor to have known him. Thoughts and prayers to you all.
