Jane W. Gebey

1946 - 2021

Jane Wilson Gebey, 74, of Lower Macungie Township, formerly of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully on July 8, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Charles L. Gebey to whom she was married for 49 years. Born in New York City, on December 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Canavan) and Mel Wilson. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Worcester, MA as well as a graduate of Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA, where she was President of the Student Government Association. She did graduate work at Boston College and Worcester State College. Before moving to Allentown, PA, Mrs. Gebey was a teacher at Notre Dame Academy in Worcester, MA and the Director of Public Relations for Anna Maria College. She taught sixth grade at St. Thomas More School in Allentown for twenty years before retiring in 2001. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Salisbury Township where she served as lector, CCD teacher and board member for many years. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1991 and valiantly battled the disabling effects of the disease for 30 years. She volunteered at the MS Society and treasured her friends who also fought the disease. She is survived by her husband and three children: Brian Gebey of Newtown Square, Clare Gebey of Bath and Maria Bleil and her husband Raymond of Macungie; six grandchildren Aidan, Margo Jane, Keira Jane, Kaley Marie, and Grace and Margaret; four siblings: brothers James T. Wilson and his wife Mary of Osterville, MA, Robert P. Wilson of Bluffton, SC and Richard J. Wilson and his wife Kate of Myrtle Beach, SC and one sister, Elaine T. Whalen and her husband, Dr. Thomas V. Whalen of Allentown, PA. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 23 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Avenue, Allentown, PA 18103. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 809 E. 19th Street, Roswell, NM 88201.
