Jeanette A. Houck, age 93, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 in Blough Nursing Home, Bethlehem. She was born November 30, 1912 in Edlemans, a daughter of the late Charles and Savella Flick Edelman. Jeanette was employed at the Wire Mill, Bushkill Twsp., Julius Keyser Hosiery Mill, Fashion Robe, Blue Ridge Textile and Banger Blouse, where she retired after 23 years. She was the oldest living member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Belfast. A Democratic committeewoman for 32 years, she served as regional director for the PA Federation of Democratic Women, 2-year term, Northampton County Council of Democratic Women serving as president, 2-year term and vice-president, PA Federation of Democratic Women. She served on the Northampton County Election Commission, president of Bangor and Plainfield Twsp. Democratic Womens Club, received the PA Voters Hall of Fame Award, and was a member of the Blue Valley Ambulance Corps Auxiliary. Her husband, Elwood F., died November 3, 1974. Survivors: Jeanette is survived by 2 sons, Larry Houck and his wife Kay of Pen Argyl and Charles Pete Houck and his wife Johanna of Plainfield Twsp; 2 daughters, Judith Houck of Bethlehem and Susan Blasco of Palmer Twsp.; 3 grandchildren, Gary Houck, Rachel and David Blasco; 3 great-grandchildren, Tara, Jena and Kyla Houck. She was predeceased by brothers Harvey Edelman, Luther Edelman and sister Laura Albert. Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2 at 11 a.m. in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5907 Sullivan Trail, Belfast. Call 10 a.m. until time of service in the church. Interment will follow in Belfast Union Cemetery. The Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, is in charge of arrangements.
