John Gilly Jr.

John Gilly Jr. 90, of Whitehall, formerly of Allentown passed into Eternal Life guided by heavenly and earth bound angels at Fellowship Community, Whitehall, Pa. on July 7, 2023. John was the husband of Rose E. (Brosky) Gilly to whom he had been married for 70 years at the time of her passing in 2021. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late John and Mary (Schubitsch) Gilly Sr. John was a 1950 graduate of Allentown High School and a 73 year member of the International Union of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #5 Chapter 15. He was a gifted bricklayer/stone mason who applied his trade at many commercial and residential projects in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The legacy of his local work includes...Louis E. Dieruff High School, William Allen High School annex, 1982 Sun Inn Restoration, St. Thomas More Church, Muhlenberg College Library, South Whitehall Township Municipal Building and the entrance pillars at the Allentown Fairgrounds. John will also be remembered as the leader of the John Gilly Orchestra Polka Band, playing the accordion. He was a long time member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Allentown. John is survived by his daughter Nancy Rose wife of John Gibiser, and his son John Gilly III and wife Jamie. John's grandchildren are; John Peter Gibiser, Angela Rose Cooper, Ashley Brooke Tabano, and John Joseph Gilly, and 10 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on July 26, 2023 in the Zentz Center at Fellowship Community, Whitehall. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30-10:00. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John's memory by performing a kind deed to someone in need. Arrangements entrusted to the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Allentown.
