John Keller Obituary

John S. Keller
John S. Keller, 84, a long time resident of Schwenksville and recently of the Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, died March 21, 2006 in Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. Born in Franconia Township he was the son of the late Harvey Freed and Florence (Souder) Keller. He was a graduate of Schuecks School, a one room school house at Telford, R.D. Following the death of his father in 1940 he became the owner of Kellers Creamery which he operated until 1964 when the business was sold to Beatrice Foods. He continued in the operation of the business as general manager until retiring in 1983. Mr. Keller maintained his keen interest in following market trends in the supermarket industry. He was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ, Schwenksville and a long time Rotarian. He was also a member of the Indian Valley Country Club, Old York Road Country Club and Saucon Valley Country Club where he especially enjoyed golfing with the Thundering Herd. Since 1970 Mr. Keller traveled extensively in Europe, especially Switzerland. He was an avid walker. Survivors: 4 children, Marjorie A. Schlosser and her husband, Dennis of Telford, Brian R. Keller and his wife, Paulette of Largo, FL, Jolene Keller of Gypsum, KS and Louise K. Halteman and her husband, Brent of Telford; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Sallie Clemens of Dock Woods Community, Towamencin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey, Marvin, Stanley, Mahlon and Stuart and 2 sisters, Erma Alderfer and Irene Goshow. Services: Friends may call Friday, March 24 after 6:30 PM and are invited to attend the service at 8 PM in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. Interment Saturday morning in the Schwenksville Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions: In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions to the Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund, 800 Maple Ave., Harleysville, PA 19438 or to a charity of the donors choice.
