John A. Keppel, Sr., 85, of Nazareth died Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Gracedale of Nazareth. He was the husband of the late Hilda (Magditch) Keppel who died December 8, 2003. Born in Nazareth, October 12, 1924 a son of the late Ignatius and Mary Deutsch Keppel. He was a butcher for Keppels Market for 40 years. Member of the Holy Family Church, life member of Holy Family Club, VFW Post 4366, American Legion Post 415 all of Nazareth. John was an avid bowler in many leagues and also played semi pro football for the Nazareth Scholastics. Veteran of Navy - World War II. Survivors: Son, John and his wife Judy of East Allen Township; two granddaughters, Kristin wife of Justin Ferris of Lower Macungie Township and Lindsay wife of Perry Boucher of Bethlehem; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and John Ferris; brother Ignatius and his wife Mildred of Nazareth; fours sisters, Elizabeth wife of William Serensits of Nazareth, Mary Singley of Hollister, Calif., Phyllis wife of Francis Storm of Queen Creek, Arizona and Jeanette Brown of Nazareth. Pre-deceased by two brothers, Raymond and Martin. Services: Military Funeral Service, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Reichel Funeral Home, 220 Washington Park, Nazareth. 10 a.m. Mass in Holy Family Church, Nazareth.
