Dear Dr. Katherine and Elizabeth

Van Eerde,

It is with sorrow that I read of the death of your beloved husband and father, yet I know his life in the presence of God surpasses all sadness. I did not know Dr. personally, but I thank God for the wonderful daughter with which your marriage was blessed. Elizabeth, you and your dedicated spirit made teaching Latin a joy. I have often thought how blessed Allen High School was to have had you as a student: that spirit will sustain you both during this difficult time. You will be in my prayers.

Sincerely, Mrs. Patricia Knox
