Dear Dad,

I was so proud of you when I saw your obituary in the newspaper today. You accomplished so much in your 94 years of life.
I remember one time, when I was in elementary school, you came in and spoke about making steel, and I was so excited and very proud of you. You have done so much for your family. I will treasure the memories of all of our Jersey shore vacations...Wildwood and Ocean City among others. You taught me how to swim in the Nescopeck Creek. I thought I was a big cheese, because you showed me how to go with the current! I was very young at the time. You taught me how to target-shoot at the cottage. My first roller-coaster ride was with you. We used to ride bikes together on the boardwalk at the shore and collect shells in the morning on the beach. You taught me how to take care of and feed sick robins. I remember step 2 of the process, when they got strong enough, was to put worms in a coffee can of dirt, and to show them how to pull out the worms. The hard part was to let the robins go when they were strong and ready. Remember, for awhile, they would fly and land on our heads and shoulders. The robins would peck on the windows, and pop in for a visit. Then, the next year, they would peck on the windows, but not come in. Following that, they would fly around our heads but not sit on our shoulders. I loved watching them fly around the following year, strong but then not getting near us, which was the goal. Lots of memories of holidays and trips to relatives, who are up in heaven with you. You could build anything, fix anything, and later in life, cook really good food! I was so fortunate to have you as my Dad here on earth for so many years of my life. Now, your work is done here. I know that you are with Mom now. Each time I dream about her, there is a significant event. A few days before your passage to heaven, I dreamed that I was making a bed and having trouble in the process. Mom appeared and started to make the bed with me. There were a lot of blankets on it. I usually dream about Mom when there is a significant event. Two days later, you went to heaven. I will miss you, Dad. I know that I will see you and Mom again. I love you both.

Your daughter,

Diane
